The Rose & Crown at Mundy Bois is your quintessential country pub in the middle of an idyllic part of Kent. The 17th century building has seen some comings and goings over the years but is now in the safe hands of Dermot and Lisa Nally since November 2013 and is managed by Kim Weller.
The Rose & Crown was built in the 1600s with many of the original features remaining including wooden beams and open fires. Our aim is to make people feel the way we like to feel when we enter a pub. “Warm and friendly” is what we would like people to say when asked to describe us.
We are a free house and an accredited Cask Marque pub serving three real ales. Our two staple beers being Harvey’s of Lewis, in Sussex, and a local ale called Native brewed by the Whitstable brewery based just 2 miles down the road at Grafty Green. Our third pump is for guest ales and we rotate the beer every month or so. Towards the end of August, we have our annual Beer & Music Festival with one whole day of music, guest beers, ciders and food.
We have good parking at the front and side of the pub and wheelchair access through the door in the side car park, although the front can be accessed with a degree of determination. Baby changing facilities are in the bar toilets.
OUR MENUS
Our food is classically English. We use only locally sourced produce and maintain a fresh focus on what we serve. Pub Classics live alongside a Specials board at weekends. Our broad menu is changed at least four times a year.
We maintain a simple but tasty view of food as you would expect of a small country pub. The promise is to deliver a warm and friendly welcome to all our visitors and hope that they can relax and enjoy the experience.
STAY LOCALLY
There are many places to stay in the local villages and surrounding area ranging from camping and glamping; self catering cottages; airbnb; and bed & breakfast.
If you are self catering, there are local farm shops and village stores, and there are a number of larger towns only a few more miles away. There are also many places to visit in the area.
